After a pair of alleged shootings and a home invasion Sunday, Fort St. John RCMP announcing an arrest in the investigation.
Police responded to an alleged home invasion involving a firearm Sunday around 12:30 am, in the area of 96th Street and 97th Avenue. Police say they manage to identify a suspect.
Just over an hour later, officers responded to reports of shots fired near 92nd Street and 113th Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene they found a vehicle with apparent bullet holes, however no injuries were reported.
Later that same day at about 6:30p.m., RMCP were called to another report of shots fired, this time at a residence on 269 Road.
A search warrant was executed at the residence on 269 Road. Police say it led to the discovery of items potentially linking the location to the initial shooting.
“That was a busy day with multiple reports of shots fired and the detachment response was fantastic with public safety being paramount,” said Sergeant Ian Rissanen, Plain Clothes Unit Commander for the Fort St John RCMP.
Fort St. John RCMP arrested a property rep for the home on 269 Road in connection with the first shooting.
Kelly Shular is facing charges including Break and Enter, Use of a Firearm in Commission of an Offence, Possession of Firearm Contrary to Order, Careless Use of Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
Shular has been remanded into custody by a judge until his next court appearance on June 4, 2025.
“All of the shooting events of the weekend are believed to be related to the Fort St John drug trade,” said Rissanen
