Fort St. John Police Detachment (Jeff Cunha, CJDC-TV)

Fort St. John — The Fort St John RCMP are alerting the public about what they are calling, a 'suspicious occurrence potentially involving a young child.'

It happened in the area of 108th street and 102nd Avenue on Friday at 3:10pm. Police received a report of a suspicious occurrence involving a young child wearing a one-piece pink snow suit and a purple touque that had been walking in the area.

Police are releasing very little other information about the incident, but they are still asking for the public’s help.

Mounties are only saying that a black sedan with ‘potential’ front-end damage may be associated to the incident.

The Fort St John RCMP request that if anyone was in the area between 2:30pm and 3:10pm and saw anything suspicious or unusual to please contact police.

If you drove in the area during that time and have dash cam video or live in the area and have residential security video of any kind, to please review your video and notify police if you see a child matching that description or a car with that description.

“This investigation is in the early stages and the public’s help will be invaluable in this matter,” said Constable Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer for the Fort St John RCMP. “Assistance from the public will help to shed more light on the totality of the circumstances and assist in advancing the investigation.”

The Fort St John RCMP continue to investigate and are asking anyone who has information in this matter to contact the Fort St John RCMP at 250-787-8100.
