A rainbow crosswalk in Fort Nelson has been damaged after an incident involving a pickup truck, prompting an investigation by the Northern Rockies RCMP.
Police say they were contacted on July 21 after a vehicle was observed stunting around the community, including performing burnouts and allegedly deliberately defacing the town’s rainbow crosswalk.
The vehicle involved was described as an older pickup truck.
“The actions of the vehicle around the community are not only unsafe and illegal, but also hateful,” said Sergeant Christian Drobosenig of the Northern Rockies RCMP detachment.
RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist investigators to come forward.
“These actions will not be tolerated, and we are seeking the support of the community to hold those offenders accountable,” said Sergeant Drobosenig.
