Peace Region residents living near border can now book surgeries in Alberta

Residents of B-C, especially those near the Alberta border, may now schedule surgeries in the neighbouring province.

B-C’s Health Ministry says a partnership between the two provinces has brought the option back, after cross-boundary scheduling was temporarily restricted in 2021 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Health Minister Josie Osborne says the reopening means B-C patients living near the Alberta boundary will be able to access surgical care closer to home.

It says patients can speak with their primary care provider to learn more about undergoing scheduled surgery in Alberta.
