Palliative care group receives more than $13K from 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The Fort St. John and District Palliative Care Society is getting a financial boost after being selected as the latest recipient of funding from the 100 Women Who Care Fort St. John initiative.

More than 100 women gathered at The Lido in Fort St. John, where members heard presentations from three local organizations before casting their votes.

The Fort St. John and District Palliative Care Society was chosen to receive a donation of $13,205.

Organizers say the funds will help the society continue providing support to individuals and families in the community facing end-of-life care needs.

The society said the donation will also support its ongoing Hospice Home Project, which aims to bring hospice care closer to home for residents in the region.

The organization said hospice care is about comfort, dignity, family and support, ensuring people do not have to face the end of life without compassionate care in their own community.

Organizers noted that a $1,000 contribution from Fort Motors was included in the $13,205 donation total.

They thanked the women who attended, voted and contributed, saying the event continues to demonstrate the impact of collective community giving in Fort St. John.
