DAWSON CREEK, B.C - The 104th Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede wrapped up Sunday, with organizers reporting strong attendance and smooth operations throughout the annual event.
While final attendance figures have not yet been released, organizers say crowd numbers appeared to be higher than last year, helped in part by favourable weather conditions during the four-day event.
Murray Pratt, President of the Dawson Creek Exhibition Association said organizers are confident attendance surpassed 2025 levels.
“We’re pretty confident that we’ve stepped up over last year and received better attendance,” Pratt said. “By all accounts, we had good crowds.”
Pratt credited the weather as one of the biggest factors behind the event’s success.
Beyond attendance, Pratt said the event ran smoothly, with few operational issues reported.
“The show was smooth. We didn’t see any problems,” he said. “The entertainment, everything else was enjoyed by a lot of people.”
The annual exhibition featured a variety of rodeo events, entertainment and agricultural programming, while organizers also placed an emphasis on celebrating the area’s western heritage and community roots.
With this year’s event now in the books, organizers are already beginning preparations for next year, reviewing what worked well and identifying potential improvements.
“We’re going to take some notes here for sure and see if we can do some changes that need to be done,” Pratt said. “We’re just worried about streamlining our operation, making it better.”
Pratt also thanked volunteers, sponsors, competitors and community members for helping make the event possible.
“Without all of that, this wouldn’t be possible,” he said.
The Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede is one of the region’s longest-running community events and remains a cornerstone of summer celebrations in the Peace Region.
