The BC Centre for Disease Control confirmed one new measles case across the province, and it comes from the Northern Health region.
Northern Health continues to have the most measles cases in BC, with 91. There are still 16 probable measles cases in Northern BC.
The BC CDC says the person was not immunized before contracting the contagious virus. They say 87 percent of British Columbians that contracted the virus were not vaccinated.
The data shows the virus is spreading at a slower pace, as there are no more active measles cases in the province.
The total of confirmed cases in BC is now at 131, but that number is small when compared to our neighboring province. Alberta currently has 1,574 confirmed cases, 15 of them active.
Those who have been exposed to the measles are being asked to stay home and self-isolate for at least four days after a rash first appears.
Medical experts say the best way to protect yourself if you have been exposed to measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. You can contact your local health unit to schedule a measles vaccination appointment.
