An oil and gas camp northeast of Fort Nelson has been fined by WorkSafeBC. The Keypile Camp has been fined $3,116 for what WorkSafe describes, as multiple health and safety deficiencies.

According to WorkSafe, the firm failed to keep up-to-date written first aid procedures, to ensure emergency lighting was tested as required.

The company also failed to conduct emergency drills at least once a year. In addition, the firm failed to ensure tools and equipment were capable of safely performing their functions and to ensure regular inspections were made to prevent the development of unsafe working conditions.

The company also failed to ensure its young and new worker orientation, addressed the required topics and did not provide workers with the information, instruction, training, and supervision necessary to ensure their health and safety.

WorkSafe said these were all repeated violations. In addition, the firm failed to ensure the health and safety of all workers present at its worksite, a high-risk violation.
