FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The Northwest Junior Hockey League has unveiled its 2026-27 regular season schedule.
Hockey fans in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek can now mark key matchups on their calendars ahead of the season opener on September 18.
The league’s nine teams will each play a 40-game schedule before the regular season concludes on February 7, 2027.
The season opens with a pair of games involving Peace Region clubs. The Fort St. John Huskies visit the North Peace Navigators in Sexsmith on September 18, while the Dawson Creek Kodiaks begin their campaign on the road against the Grande Prairie Wheat Kings.
Fort St. John fans will not have to wait long for the Huskies’ home opener. The club welcomes the Slave Lake Wolves to the North Peace Arena on October 9.
The Kodiaks’ home opener is scheduled for October 9 at the Ovintiv Events Centre, where they will host the Sexsmith Vipers.
Several Highway 97 matchups are featured throughout the schedule between the Huskies and Kodiaks. The first game between the two clubs is set for October 11 in Fort St. John.
The NWJHL also announced the return of the Slave Lake Wolves to the league for the upcoming season. The organization has assembled a new leadership group and coaching staff as it prepares to rejoin competition.
The league also noted that the Dawson Creek Kodiaks will feature a new leadership group behind the bench, with Chad Sutton taking over as general manager and coach following the departure of longtime coach and general manager Colby Wagar.
Another date for fans to watch is December 12, when the NWJHL All-Star Game will be held in Sexsmith.
The 2025-26 season ended with the La Crete Lumber Barons capturing the NWJHL championship before going on to win the Alberta Junior B provincial title.
