TUMBLER RIDGE, B.C. - Northern Lights College has officially opened its new Tumbler Ridge Access Centre, establishing a new location for students to pursue post-secondary education in the community.

The college opened the centre at Tumbler Ridge Place on October 14.

Students will be able to take NLC’s online programs, participate in classes delivered from the college’s larger campuses through video conferencing and access on-site Wi-Fi and laptops.

The centre will also connect students with college services and supports.

NLC’s previous Tumbler Ridge campus was located inside Tumbler Ridge Secondary School. Following the events of February 10, 2026, the college began looking for a new location so it could continue serving students in the community.

The opening ceremony included a blessing and prayer from Elder Dean Dokkie. The event concluded with a ribbon cutting involving community members and guests.

“NLC has been part of this community for decades,” said NCL President and CEO, Todd Bondaroff. “Over that time, the way we deliver education has evolved, but our commitment to creating opportunities for people in Tumbler Ridge and across the Peace Region has remained. I’m excited about what this renewed presence can mean for the community. We’re building on a longstanding relationship and creating new possibilities for the future.”

NLC Board Chair Jennifer Moore said the new location represents more than simply a place for students to attend classes.

“A college campus is so much more than a place to take classes. It is a place where people come together, discover new opportunities, and build their futures without having to leave the community they call home. We believe that where you live should not limit where you can go,” said Moore. “As a Board, we are incredibly proud to celebrate this new chapter for Northern Lights College in Tumbler Ridge. This campus is an investment in the people, potential, and future of this community.”

The new access centre marks Northern Lights College’s latest location in Tumbler Ridge after the college moved out of its former space at the secondary school earlier this year.
