Northern Health warns of two potential measles exposures in Fort St. John

Alberta's measles outbreak is showing signs of making a comeback, with the province confirming 27 new infections since this past Friday.

Residents of Northeast BC are being advised that Public Health is reporting two new potential measles exposure locations in the Fort St. John area.

Northern Health say if you were at the Evangelical Mission Church on 89th Avenue in Fort St. John on February 15th, you may have exposure to the highly contagious virus.

The health authority said the potential exposure is thought to have occurred between 9 am and 1 pm.

The health authority is also warning residents who were at the Subway restaurant location on Alaska Road South in Fort St John. The time of the potential exposure was on February 23 from 12 pm to 2:30 pm.

If you may have been exposed, monitor for symptoms of measles. For more information on measles exposure locations (including flights and airports), current case counts, and how to prevent the spread of measles, please visit the BC Centre for Disease Control website.
