Northern Health is asking communities of the South Peace to treat health care workers with respect.
The health authority said some residents have confronted staff and physicians at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre to express their frustration over recent changes made by Northern Health.
The growing frustration stems from a recent reduction in after-hours emergency care coverage in Tumbler Ridge.
Northern Health’s decision has left the town without emergency care late at night and on weekends.
Health officials said confronting health care staff at work, during personal time, or anytime on social media is inappropriate.
“The current staff and medical staff in Tumbler Ridge deserve appreciation and respect, as they too are affected when staffing resources are stretched,” said Northern Health.
The health authority added there are many ways to directly express concerns to Northern Health, noting they understand the community’s concerns and that the changes are temporary.
Northern health noted residents may also notice a security presence at the health centre, as efforts continue to address staffing issues.
