In a notification, the health authority says that the calls are not affiliated with Northern Health and may involve a company using ‘Northern Health’ as part of its business name.
Northern Health is urging individuals and businesses receiving the calls or emails to thoroughly verify the origin of the solicitation before sharing personal information, such as home addresses or banking details, or making any purchases or donations.
In cases of uncertainty, Northern Health encourages recipients to contact their regional office to confirm the legitimacy of any initiatives using their name or facilities.
The health authority is also advising the public to follow guidelines from the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
