Northern Health and First Nations Health Authority have issued a Toxic Drug Alert for Dawson Creek.
Northern Health said a blue “rock chunk” substance is being sold as “heroin.”
It said the substance has been linked to an increase of overdose events.
“This substance is highly toxic, causes heavy and prolonged sedation, and requires more naloxone to reverse,” Northern Health said.
It added that smoking the drug is not safer than injecting it.
