The BC Centre for Disease Control has confirmed six new cases of measles across the province.

Northern Health’s total has risen by one case to 172, with one case currently active.

Health officials said Interior Health has four new confirmed cases, while Fraser Health has one.

The new total is now 239 across BC. Health officials noted that 208 cases involved people who were not vaccinated against the virus.

Medical experts say the best way to protect yourself after exposure to measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. You can contact your local health unit to schedule a vaccination appointment.
