Northern Health approaching 200 measles cases for the year

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control, Northern Health is approaching on 200 measles cases so far this year.

The BC CDC has confirmed three new measles cases across the province in its latest update. All three cases were reported in Northeast BC.

Health officials said Northern Health now has 199 confirmed cases, with two are currently active. Provincewide, the total has reached 271 cases in 2025.

The update showed that 88 percent of cases come from people not vaccinated against the virus.

Medical experts continue to say the best way to protect yourself after exposure to measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. You can contact your local health unit to schedule a vaccination appointment.
