The BC Centre for Disease Control’s latest measles update shows cases are ticking upward in northeast BC.
The BC CDC has confirmed 26 new measles across the region since last Thursday, increasing the total there to 251 cases.
Health officials also said there is currently nine active cases in Northeast BC.
The update shows the total count has now reached 337 across the province.
While only 1.3 percent of British Columbians live in Northeast BC, the region is responsible for 75.6 percent of measles cases this year.
Health officials said that is because of misinformation about the safety of vaccines and vaccination hesitancy due to COVID-19.
