The North Peace Rodeo is returning to Fort St. John for the first time since 2018. Its starts Friday night and is taking place at the North Peace Light Horse Association Rodeo Grounds.
Over the weekend, organizers say that various events will take place, like bareback riding, bull riding, and chuck wagons.
“Everybody is super excited about it. The rodeo has been such a huge part of Fort St. John events and culture for years,” said Tara Myer, Committee Director for the North Peace Rodeo.
She said people from the community have put a lot of hard work into restoring the grounds over the past 4 months. Myers added she expects 300 to 400 people to attend the rodeo everyday, but she wouldn’t be surprised to see even more people show up.
Adults’ tickets are $25 per day, or $60 for a weekend pass. Kids of age 6 to 14 and seniors can get in for $10 a day, and kids under the age of 6 can get in for free. It is also possible to attend chuck wagons only, for $15 a night. All ticket purchases are cash only.
Accessible parking is also available to allow everyone to attend.
The All-Pro Canadian Chuckwagon and Chariot Association will be performing every night, and the rodeo will also feature a dance on Saturday night.
Myers mentioned that Jake Gardner, the Professional Bull Rider from Fort St. John, won’t be attending the rodeo this year.
