After a spike in the numbers of measles cases earlier this week in BC, the Northern Health region is reporting no new confirmed cases, according to the BC Centre for Disease Control’s latest update.

The BC CDC said the total cases in the region for the year remains at 110. The agency has reported in the past 16 probable cases in Northern BC.

There are three active cases of the measles currently across British Columbia, one in Fraser Health and the other two in the Interior Health region. The total of measles cases in BC is now 160.

Medical experts say the best way to protect yourself after exposure to measles is to get vaccinated with the MMR vaccine. You can contact your local health unit to schedule a vaccination appointment.
