New health care lab at NLC’s Fort St. John campus to train students locally

Northern Lights College has unveiled a new health care training lab at its Fort St. John campus, aimed at expanding hands-on learning opportunities for students.

The facility is designed primarily for those enrolled in the Health Care Assistant program, providing a realistic clinical setting with six hospital beds and modern equipment.

College officials say the lab will allow students to complete more of their training locally, eliminating the need to travel to other communities.

Fort St. John students previously had to travel to the Dawson Creek campus or to the University of Northern BC to train.

The lab allows the college to expand health sciences programs, which currently have about 150 students enrolled every year.

The college says the new space will help train more healthcare workers locally, supporting regional healthcare needs.
