A shipment of counterfeit FIFA merchandise has been intercepted by border officers in Prince Rupert.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) says officers seized nearly 4,000 fake FIFA items, including jerseys, equipment and trophies, after identifying the shipment as counterfeit.

The seizure comes in one of two Canadian provinces hosting 2026 FIFA World Cup matches.

Canada is co-hosting the tournament with the United States and Mexico, as fans from around the world are visiting Vancouver and Toronto to celebrate one of the world’s biggest sporting events.

CBSA says counterfeit products can hurt legitimate businesses and mislead consumers looking to buy official tournament merchandise.

The agency is reminding fans to be cautious when purchasing FIFA-related gear, especially through unofficial online sellers.

The investigation into the shipment is ongoing.
