FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The Fort St. John RCMP Serious Crime Unit is investigating a reported shooting in the city’s north end, marking the third firearm-related incident police have investigated since late July.
According to RCMP, officers received multiple reports of shots fired in the 8800 block of 107A Avenue at approximately 10:09 p.m. on Friday.
No suspects have been identified and investigators say the case remains in its early stages.
“Investigators have identified multiple scenes related to the incident and are continuing to gather evidence,” RCMP said in a release. “Based on information obtained thus far, police believe this to be a targeted incident.”
The latest occurrence is the third shooting investigated in Fort St. John since July 22, a trend RCMP say is raising significant concerns about public safety in the community.
“The safety of our community remains our highest priority,” said Jaime Moffat, Officer in Charge of the Fort St. John RCMP.
“We recognize the concern these incidents cause and want the public to know that significant resources are being dedicated to identifying those responsible and preventing further violence.”
In response to the recent firearm-related incidents, RCMP say frontline officers, the Street Enforcement Team and the Serious Crime Unit are working together to identify those responsible.
Police added that they are looking to disrupt criminal activity linked to gun violence and prevent further incidents.
Investigators say they are actively pursuing all available leads.

Officers are particularly interested in obtaining surveillance or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation.
