Two individuals, one of whom is a youth, are now in custody following a traffic stop in Fort St. John.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:20 p.m. Thursday near 100th Street and 102nd Avenue.
The Street Enforcement Team pulled over the vehicle to arrest the occupants for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Once the car stopped, a youth passenger allegedly fled on foot.
Mounties say despite being informed by police that he was under arrest, he did not stop. Following a short foot pursuit, the youth was apprehended and found to be in possession of a “quantity” of drugs and cash.
“Both the driver and the passenger remain in police custody and the investigation is ongoing,” said Cst. Chad Neustaeter, Media Relations Officer.
RCMP is urging anyone with information to contact the Fort St. John Detachment or submit an anonymous tip via Crime Stoppers.
