A Dawson Creek man, who was facing charges of attempted murder and break and enter has had his charges dismissed, according to Court Services in Dawson Creek.
The BC Prosecution Service approved the charges against Jessie Ray Stevens after the Dawson Creek RCMP alleged, a house on 6th Street and 97th Avenue was broken into, in November of 2023.
After being charged, a judge released Stevens from custody. The judge imposed a number of conditions including, directing Stevens to wear an ankle monitoring bracelet.
After Stevens had his charges dismissed, all of his court-imposed conditions, including having to wear an ankle monitor were dropped.
The BC Prosecution Service was not able to say why Stevens charges were dismissed. However, sources tell CJDC TV News that a witness did not show up to court.
Stevens is well-known to police. In December of 2023, the Dawson Creek RCMP asked for the public’s help in finding him. At the time, police warned the public, not to confront Stevens, as he was considered to be dangerous.
