Dawson Creek — A number of sources confirming to CJDC TV News that the man murdered in Dawson Creek on December 31st is Rob Girbav.

Girbav has a long criminal history including charges of assault and theft over $5000. It’s not clear at this point if Girbav has any ties to the on-going turf war in the Peace Region involving organized crime elements from the Lower Mainland of BC.

On December 31st, Mounties responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at 17th Street and 116th Avenue.

When they arrived at the scene, they found a red Dodge Calibre and Girbav’s body.

RCMP North District Major Crime Unit has taken over the murder investigation.

RCMP Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying a pickup truck that maybe linked to a murder investigation in Dawson Creek.

On Sunday, December 31 between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM, police say a red Dodge Calibre was accompanied by a red Dodge Ram 1500 pickup with gold trim along the lower portion of the pickup.

Investigators believe that these vehicles may have been seen in the vicinity of 17th Street/116th Avenue as well as on the Alaska Highway in Dawson Creek.

RCMP are asking anyone with surveillance video, dash cam video or information regarding this red Dodge Calibre and the red Dodge Ram 1500 pickup to contact the Dawson Creek RCMP at (250) 784-3700.
