A major motor vehicle incident shut down Highway 97 north of Wonowon Thursday morning, according to DriveBC.
Officials say the highway was closed for a stretch of about 71 kilometres between Suicide Hill Pullout and Prophet River.
That section is 83 kilometres north of Wonowon and 131 kilometres south of Fort Nelson.
It is unclear at this point how many vehicles were involved or whether there are any injuries.
Later Thursday morning, Highway 97 reopened to single-lane alternating traffic, but officials said drivers should expect major delays in the area.
Early Thursday night, the highway was fully re-opened in both directions.
