Residents of Dawson Creek are in for a treat, as a talented local filmmaker is set to release his new movie on Friday.
Rob Brown will be premiering his original action thriller, Blind Dates at the George Dawson Inn.
The film is shot and produced in Dawson Creek and is inspired by Brown’s 25-year career as an acclaimed journalist.
Brown said the plot is a murder mystery that starts with an opening murder. It’s caovered by the media, with a local reporter not trying very hard to get to the truth.
The writer/director has assembled a talented cast of local actors. Brown introduces characters Don Stradford and Mick Sterling, as well as TV personality Wally Fister. He drops them into an election season, the brutal slaying of a family and a land war.
“People have seen it and find it very funny. It is rated for mature audiences, for overt violence and language,” said Brown
The first screening is Friday night at the George Dawson Inn. Tickets are available in advance for $25 or $30 at the door. The second screening in Friday August 29th, also at the George Dawson Inn.
Brown said there are also plans to show the movie across the Peace Region and in Alberta in the near future.
