Lake View Credit Union is contributing $100,000 to help bring advanced medical imaging to the South Peace region.
The donation, announced Wednesday, will go toward the Dawson Creek and District Hospital Foundation’s “Clear Picture” Campaign.
The community-led initiative aims to raise $3 million for an MRI machine at the new hospital, which is scheduled to open in fall 2026.
Foundation officials say access to MRI services would mark a significant improvement for patients across the region, many of whom currently travel long distances for diagnostic imaging.
“The addition of an MRI is an investment that will serve patients for decades,” said foundation chair Brette Madden.
Medical leaders echo that impact, emphasizing both patient care and recruitment benefits.
“It will save lives, alleviate pain and anxiety related to travelling for this modality, and help ensure that health care professionals come and stay in our community,” said Dr. Remi Oyedeji, Chief of Staff at Dawson Creek and District Hospital.
Lake View Credit Union says the contribution reflects its long-standing commitment to the Peace Region.
Board chair John Kurjata said the donation is an investment in the health and future of local residents.
Co-CEOs Justin Lajeunesse and Marlana Blouin highlighted the importance of access to quality care close to home.
The campaign has already received a major boost from Arc Resources Ltd., which pledged $1.5 million, half of the overall fundraising goal, in November.
With additional community support, organizers say they have reached about 91 per cent of the target.
The hospital foundation continues to seek donations from individuals, businesses and organizations to help bring the project across the finish line.
Construction of the new Dawson Creek and District Hospital is running about two months ahead of schedule, with substantial completion now expected in September 2026.
Northern Health says the earlier timeline could allow the hospital to open sooner than originally planned.
