ICBC has taken the unusual step of cancelling all road tests in Fort St. John. The Insurance Corporation said the move is due to a criminal harassment investigation that is being conducted by the Fort St. John RCMP.
ICBC said all road tests scheduled in Fort St. John have been cancelled until further notice.
“This is due to an ongoing police matter involving criminal harassment by an individual not affiliated with ICBC. Steps have been taken to ensure the safety of ICBC employees and customers. As a last result, our road test services in this community are currently unavailable,” said Greg Harper with ICBC.
ICBC didn’t respond when asked if this has anything to do with the on-going complaints from Elite Driving School in Fort St. John. Owner David Rowsell is facing 2 counts of criminal harassment stemming from events in 2024.
According to ICBC, 236 road tests for passenger and commercial vehicles have been cancelled and Impacted customers have been notified.
“We recognize the significant impact this disruption may have and sincerely regret the inconvenience it will cause. We are working diligently with police and local partners to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” said Harper
Customers with road tests booked in Fort St. John will need to re-schedule at another ICBC testing location. The closest location is in Dawson Creek.
Calls to David Rowsell and the Fort St. John RCMP have not been returned.
