HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. - Residents in Hudson’s Hope will have an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking local office before heading to the polls.
The 2026 Hudson’s Hope General Local Election Candidate Forum is scheduled for Monday, September 28, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Pearkes Centre on Dudley Drive.
The forum comes ahead of this year’s municipal election, where voters will elect one mayor and six councillors.
Incumbent Mayor Travous Quibell is seeking another term and is being challenged by Luke Zandbergen.
Nine candidates are running for the six available council seats. The field includes incumbent councillors Debbie Beattie, Greta Goddard, Tina Jeffrey and Tashana Winnicky, along with challengers Rob Douglas, John Paul McCarthy, Victoria Mee, Ben Romine and Kimberly Stacey.
Voters will also be asked to decide on a borrowing bylaw related to a proposed Multi-Use Gathering Center.
The referendum asks whether the District of Hudson’s Hope should be authorized to borrow up to $10 million, plus interest, over a period not exceeding 20 years to help finance construction of the facility.
