There are disturbing allegations in Hudson’s Hope, as a school teacher is facing sexual assault charges.
The BC RCMP received a report concerning the allegations in October, 2025. The suspect in question was a teacher at Hudson’s Hope Elementary - Secondary School.
Police say after a thorough investigation, they recommended charges in the case. The BC Prosecution Service then approved the charges against the teacher, who is facing one count of sexual exploitation and sexual assault.
To protect the victim or victims, the RCMP said they will not be releasing the name of the alleged offender.
Police are also not commenting on the age of the victim or victims. However, the Superintendent for School District 60 said, the District was informed of charges against a teacher at Hudson’s Hope School in relation to conduct towards a young person.
“I can confirm that the individual is not teaching at the School or for the District at this time while the court proceedings are ongoing and the matter is investigated. This matter is taken extremely seriously by the School District, as nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of our students. Criminal misconduct towards minors can never be condoned,” said Superintendent of Schools, Stephen Petrucci.
In Canada, sexual exploitation is defined as any actual or attempted abuse of a position of vulnerability, differential power or trust for sexual purposes.
Petrucci said, “While the matter is before the courts, we will be limited in what can be shared publicly. However, to the extent we are legally able to do so, we will keep parents and caregivers informed of any developments impacting our schools or students. It goes without saying that if you have any information about inappropriate conduct towards a young person, you are urged to contact the RCMP at 250-787-8140.”
