HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. - Residents of Hudson’s Hope are being subjected to yet another emergency department services closure this week.
Emergency services at the Hudson’s Hope Health Centre are scheduled to resume at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, following another temporary diversion affecting the community.
The latest interruption is the most recent in a series of emergency department closures and service diversions that have impacted Hudson’s Hope throughout 2026.
Northern Health has previously attributed the disruptions to ongoing staffing challenges.
During the diversion, residents requiring emergency medical attention are being advised to call 911 and seek care at the nearest available hospital.
Hudson’s Hope has experienced multiple emergency service interruptions this year, raising continuing concerns about access to emergency care in the community.
The current closure comes on the heels of an extended diversion from September 25 to October 5 and another closure last week.
Northern Health has stated for the past five years that it continues efforts to recruit and retain health-care professionals in rural communities, including Hudson’s Hope.
Temporary disruptions at the facility have been a recurring concern for local residents and municipal leaders, who have repeatedly called for long-term solutions to rural health-care staffing shortages.
