Drivers travelling along the Alaska Highway north of Fort Nelson are being advised of a full road closure following a vehicle accident.
According to DriveBC, Highway 97 is closed in both directions between Stone Mountain Safaris Access Road and Muncho Lake Pit Road, approximately 225 to 229 kilometres north of Fort Nelson.
The closure affects a 4.7-kilometre stretch of highway.
DriveBC says an assessment is currently underway and there is no detour available at this time.
Officials have not released details about the nature of the accident or whether there have been any injuries.
Motorists are advised check for updates on the DriveBC website before travelling through the Northern Rockies region.
DriveBC has not provided an estimated reopening time.
