Avalanche Canada has issued an alert warning of a high avalanche risk in the Peace Region.
The agency said heavy snowfall and strong winds have rapidly increased avalanche danger.
It said around 15 to 30 cm of snow accumulated over the weekend and that up to 30 cm of new snow could fall through Monday.

The agency said travel is not recommended in avalanche terrain where 25 cm or more of snowfall is present.
“We anticipate natural avalanche activity on Monday as stormy conditions continue,” the agency said.
It said Monday’s snowfall could form fresh storm slabs, which could create avalanches ranging from small to large.
Avalanche Canada added that people in the area should watch for buried obstacles, especially below the treeline.
