The Fort St. John Senior’s Hall is receiving $42,250 to complete much needed repairs to the roof of the building.

The money comes from the North Peace Community Foundation (NPCF), who says, this grant is a perfect example of what the foundation was established to do.

Tracy Wolsey, the Chair of the NPCF, says “the Senior’s Hall is more than a building, it’s a gathering place.” She adds, it’s important to be able to provide strategic and timely support to the community.

The Fort St. John Senior’s Association continues to offer social programs, meals, and critical support to seniors across the region. It says the roof repairs were “urgently needed to ensure the safety, usability, and longevity of the building.”

“This support from the Foundation is truly a gift,” said Deb Vandal, Secretary of the Fort St. John Senior’s Association. Part of the money raised came from fundraising events in the community, but the NPCF was able to provide the rest of the money needed to reach the target of $42,250.

“This grant is a powerful example of how community-driven funds can address urgent needs while investing in places that matter,” says NPCF.

The North Peace Savings and Credit Union Community Legacy Fund and the BC Prosperity Fund also played their part in making the grant possible.
