One man is facing charges after a building fire in Grande Prairie. Mounties were called to a housing complex on Tuesday evening.
When police arrived, the building was engulfed in flames. Witnesses at the scene pointed out a man they believed started the fire.
The man was arrested and taken into custody. As a result of the investigation, Dwayne Forsyth (50), a resident of Grande Prairie, was charged with:
- Arson;
- Mischief; and
- Mischief causing danger to life (x5).
There were 5 people in the building at the time of the fire, which was seriously damaged. Police say no one was seriously injured as a result.
Forsyth was brought before a justice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on June 8, 2026.
