The Fort St. John RCMP have arrested four people following a road rage incident near the city.
On august 31, Mounties said a man pointed a firearm at another person in a road rage incident. It occurred around 11 am, near Baldonnel Road and Highway 97.
The RCMP said a “high-risk-takedown” was required after officers located the suspect’s vehicle near Taylor.
They identified the suspect has 35-year-old Travis Dion Sharyk, who was one of four suspects in the vehicle.
After the arrest, police searched the vehicle and seized a carbine, a handgun, ammunition, cash and drugs.
Sharyk has been charged with six offences, including possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and occupying a vehicle knowing there was a restricted firearm in it.
Police said Sharyk remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance.
The other three people in the vehicle were all charged with similar offenses but have been released with conditions and court dates.
Mounties added that the incident escalated quickly and posed a significant risk to the public.
“Thanks to the public’s timely report, RCMP members were able to locate the suspect vehicle within 10 minutes,” said the Fort St. john RCMP.
