Some exciting news out of Fort St. John as the city’s North Peace Arena has been nominated for the annual Kraft Hockeyville competition.

“We aren’t sure who submitted the nomination, but we at City Hall are excited by the prospect,” said Ryan Harvey, Communications Manager with the City of Fort St. John.

The event is sponsored by Kraft Heinz, the National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association.

The winner will receive $250,000 in arena upgrades and a NHL preseason game will also be played in the host city.

Communities across Canada that have been nominated will now compete to demonstrate their commitment to hockey.

As the contest moves forward, “the city will look at ways to help promote the bid,” said Harvery

Residents of Fort St. John are also being encouraged to support the nomination. The contest entry closes on March 1st.
