The Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society (FSJWRS) is celebrating the success of its first Spring Hygiene Week.

Spring Hygiene Week took place from May 12 to 15. The initiative looked to provide vital access to hygiene services for vulnerable individuals within the community.

The week featured daily health talks led by the on-site Northern Health nurse. The sessions covered topics such as Bed Bugs/Scabies/Lice, Yeast Infections, Foot Hygiene and Athlete’s Foot, and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

FSJWRS handed out 22 hygiene kits, 12 complimentary shower passes, and provided 36 professional haircuts. The haircuts, valued at over $1,260, included 22 for women, 8 for men, and 6 for children.
