Fort St. John RCMP surround home after report of shots fired

Fort St. John – Police were called to a home in Fort St. John after a report of shots fired.

Mounties say it happened just before 5:30 am Friday, in the 9600 Block of 96th Avenue.

When officers arrived at the scene, they say they immediately discovered evidence consistent with gun fire. Police say they later learned that there had been an exchange of gun fire at a residence in the area.

Police entered the home in question to ensure the safety of anyone in the residence. The four people inside were uninjured and subsequently arrested for weapons related offences.

Officers say they also discovered firearms and firearm paraphernalia inside the home. The RCMP will remain in the area to conduct a further investigation.

Police believe this to be a targeted shooting related to gang-activity & drug trade in the city.
