Fort St. John RCMP seize alleged 3D-printed firearms operation, arrest 37-year-old man

Fort St. John RCMP say they uncovered an alleged 3D-printed firearm manufacturing operation while executing a search warrant linked to a drug trafficking investigation.

The warrant was carried out on June 18 at a residence on 105th Avenue by the RCMP Street Enforcement Team.

Police say approximately 20 firearms were found, either completed or in various stages of assembly.

RCMP say they have seen an increase in privately manufactured firearms, often called “ghost guns,” since late 2025.

Police note some of the firearms can resemble toys, creating additional public safety concerns.

“The impact this warrant execution will have on public safety within our community is hard to quantify, but it’s safe to say the impact will be profound,” said Sgt. Ian Rissanen of the Fort St. John RCMP Plainclothes Unit.

A 37-year-old man was arrested and later released as investigators continue preparing a report for the BC Prosecution Service.

No charges have been announced, but Mounties say they anticipate that a number of serious charges will be recommended.
