The Fort St. John RCMP have released new information about Monday’s weigh scales arson in Charlie Lake and are now asking for the public’s help with the investigation.
The fire happened at the Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement building on Highway 97 North, about 12 kilometres northwest of Fort St. John.
The Charlie Lake Fire Department was called to the scene shortly after 1 am, and it took 13 firefighters about four hours to bring the blaze under control.
Mounties describe the suspect as a lone male associated with a dark-coloured pickup truck.
Police said the suspect was responsible for “this intentional and highly destructive act.”
Police are asking for any witnesses to come forward are also seeking dashcam video from the area from 1 am to 1:20 am.
