Fort St. John RCMP have issued a plea for witnesses to come forward after a suspected barbershop arson, this past weekend.

Mounties received a call about a fire at the Golden Hands Barbershop in the 9,200 block of 100 Street, just after 3:30 am Saturday. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a broken window and fire inside the shop, which appeared suspicious.

The owner of Golden Hands Barbershop says he woke up to a call about an alarm at 3:32 AM. He says the barbershop wasn’t just destroyed, he says, “we were violated.” Pictures show the business has a broken front window and fire debris inside the building.

Fort St. John RCMP and the owner both believe the building was deliberately set on fire.

“Someone decided to destroy not just property, but the trust and love we’ve worked so hard to build with our community,” says the owner.

Mounties are currently looking through CCTV footage for suspects. Police are continuing their arson investigation which they say is in its early stages.

Police asking anyone with any information on the case to contact the Fort St. John RCMP at 250-787-8100. Should you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a tip online.
