Two suspects have been arrested in connection to an early morning arson and shooting of a nightclub building, in Fort St John.

Police responded to a suspicious fire at the New Frontier Pub and Grill near 100th Avenue and 103rd Street, that had already been extinguished by the Fire Department.

Investigators processed the crime scene and found evidence of both arson and gunfire directed at the building.

Police said that no injuries occurred during what is believed to be an isolated incident.

Later that morning, Mounties converged on a residence in Taylor and arrested two suspects without incident.

The suspects are being held in custody pending the investigation and the residence they were arrested at is being held for a search warrant. At this point, the suspects have not being named.

It’s the fourth time in the last seven days, gunfire rang out in Fort St. John. Police believe the recent string of shootings are connected to the ongoing gang conflict across parts of the Peace Region.

“Violence of any kind has no place in our community and I’m confidant that the RCMP will find those responsible,” said Lilia Hansen, Mayor of Fort St. John.

Hansen is urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward to the RCMP.

“Council continues to work with the RCMP, provincial government, and local organizations to address the root causes of crime,” added Hansen

The shootings have residents on edge with some taking to social wondering, how safe it is for their children to go trick-or-treating on Friday night.
