FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The Fort St. John Huskies continued their winning streak Wednesday night, edging the Fairview Flyers 3-2 in overtime at North Peace Arena.

The win extends the Huskies’ winning streak to five games and keeps them in second place in their division, two points behind the La Crete Lumber Barons, although Fort St. John has played more games.

After a scoreless first period, Fairview opened the scoring early in the second. The Flyers carried that 1-0 lead into the third period.

The Huskies responded midway through the third on a power-play goal to tie the game 1-1.

Fairview regained the lead less than a minute later before Fort St. John answered again, to even the game at 2-2 and force overtime.

Sam Watson netted the game-winner in overtime securing the Huskies’ victory.

Fort St. John controlled much of the play, outshooting the Flyers 42-18.

Two Peace Region rivals will meet Saturday when the Dawson Creek Kodiaks travel to Fort St. John for the next installment of the Highway 97 rivalry. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at North Peace Arena.
