Business and community leaders from across the province are gathering in Fort St. John this week, as the city hosts the Chamber of Commerce Executives of British Columbia conference alongside the B.C. Chamber of Commerce annual general meeting.

The multi-day event, running June 1 to 3, brings together representatives from dozens of chambers from across British Columbia for workshops, networking, and discussions on strengthening local economies.

Organizers say the conference is focused on collaboration and innovation, giving delegates the chance to share best practices and explore ways to expand the impact of chambers in their communities.

Fort St. John is serving as the host community this year, welcoming visitors from across the province. A reception in the city’s downtown Festival Plaza is planned to highlight the role Northeast B.C. plays in key industries, including energy, agriculture, and resource development.

The conference also includes tours of major regional projects and cultural sites, such as Site C, the Ovintiv Tower Gas Plant, and Tse’k’wa National Historic Site, offering attendees a closer look at the region’s economic and cultural landscape.

Sessions scheduled throughout the event will cover topics like governance, membership growth, and supporting communities during times of crisis, with speakers from across the province taking part. [

An optional tour later in the week will take participants through several Northeast B.C. communities, including Hudson’s Hope, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge, and Dawson Creek, showcasing the region’s industries, tourism sites, and Indigenous culture.

Organizers say the gathering is an opportunity to build partnerships and highlight the contributions Northeast B.C. makes to the province’s economy.
