FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - As students settle into a new school year, the Fort St. John Firefighters Charitable Society is helping ensure local children have the tools they need to succeed.
The charitable organization, in partnership with Staples, donated 100 backpacks and more than $2,500 worth of school supplies to support students in the community.
According to the society, the initiative is aimed at helping children start the school year prepared and ready to learn.
In a social media post, the firefighters’ charity said preparation is key to success and thanked both Staples and School District 60 for helping make the donation possible.
School District 60: Peace River North also acknowledged the contribution, thanking the firefighters’ charity and Staples for providing the backpacks and supplies.
The district said the items will be distributed to support elementary students across the region.
The donation comes as families continue to face rising costs associated with back-to-school shopping, helping ease some of the financial burden while ensuring students have access to essential classroom materials.
