FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. - The City of Fort St. John is urging the provincial government to address what council says are lengthy wait times for driver licensing tests in the community.
Council unanimously approved a motion directing staff to prepare a letter to the provincial ministry responsible for driver licensing, advocating for additional resources and improved service capacity in Fort St. John.
The issue was raised by Mayor Lilia Hansen, who expressed concerns about the wait times residents are facing when attempting to book driver testing appointments.
Council subsequently passed a resolution, directing staff to formally communicate those concerns to the province and request increased resources for driver testing services in the community
Long waits for road tests can affect new drivers seeking licences, residents requiring licences for employment opportunities, and people needing to travel throughout the region, where driving is often essential.
The matter will now be forwarded to the province through a formal letter from city staff seeking additional support for driver testing services in Fort St. John.
