Services at the hospital in Fort Nelson are resuming after the facility was placed on ‘restricted access’ Thursday morning, according to Northern Health.
Northern Health said the move was a result of police activity near the General Hospital.
The health authority posted a message on Facebook shortly after 9:30am on Thursday. “There are no safety concerns for staff and patients in the hospital,” Northern Health said in the post.
Shortly after 12:30pm, the health authority posted that the ‘restricted access’ to the hospital had ended.
Laboratory and medical imaging services were unavailable and all booked appointments were postponed. All patients that were affected are now being called to reschedule their appointments.
Residents of Fort Nelson and the surrounding area were still be advised to call 911 if they need life threatening emergency care.
CJDC TV News has reached out to RCMP about the nature of the police activity. We have yet to hear back from police.
