The Fort Nelson First Nation Annual Celebration is set to return August 7 to August 9.
The event bringing three days of cultural programming, traditional games, community gatherings and live entertainment to Fort Nelson.
The family-friendly event is being promoted as a drug and alcohol-free gathering open to community members and visitors alike.
Organizers say the schedule includes traditional handgames, drum dances, cultural activities, community feasts, live music and activities for all ages.
One of the marquee attractions is the annual handgames tournament, which will run throughout the weekend.
Organizers say the tournament will feature a guaranteed $50,000 prize payout, with teams competing for a first-place prize of $16,000. The event is open to mixed teams with players aged 12 and older.
Festivities officially begin Friday with traditional arts and craft submissions, an opening ceremony featuring Muskwa Traditional Hand Drummers, traditional dancing and the start of the handgames competition.
Live entertainment is scheduled for the evening, followed by a drum dance.
Organizers have also arranged several additional services during the celebration weekend. Members of the public will be able to register for or renew Indian Status cards through the First Nations Health Authority.
Camping will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, with organizers providing designated camping areas, overnight washroom facilities and security.
The celebration will also feature food vendors, retail booths, craft vendors, cash raffles and daily information booth activities.
